What are PureGnaw chews made of?

PureGnaw chews are made from three ingredients: yak milk, lemon juice, and salt. That's it. No artificial preservatives, no binders, no fillers — just a centuries-old Himalayan cheesemaking process applied to a premium dog chew.

How long does a PureGnaw chew last?

Duration depends on the size of the chew and your dog's chewing style. Generally: Small lasts 2–6 hours, Medium lasts 4–10 hours, and Large lasts 8–20 hours. Power chewers will work through them faster; gentler chewers will make them last longer.

Do they have a strong smell?

PureGnaw chews have a mild, natural smell — notably less intense than rawhide or bully sticks. Most owners find them easy to store and use indoors without any odor concerns.

Can puppies have PureGnaw chews?

We recommend PureGnaw chews for dogs 6 months and older, once adult or near-adult teeth have come in. For younger puppies, please check with your vet before introducing any firm chew.

What flavors are available?

PureGnaw currently comes in four flavors: Original, Turmeric, Blueberry, and Peanut Butter. All flavors are made with the same three-ingredient base — the flavor additions are 100% natural.

How do I choose the right size?

What if my dog is between sizes?

Always go up a size when in doubt. A slightly larger chew is always safer than one that's too small. If your dog is a particularly aggressive chewer, you may also want to size up regardless of weight.

Can large dogs have the small chew?

No. Always match the chew to your dog's size. A chew that's too small for a large dog becomes a choking hazard once it's been worked down. Stick to the size recommended for your dog's weight.

Are PureGnaw chews fully digestible?

Yes. Because PureGnaw chews are made from compressed yak milk cheese, small pieces that are swallowed are generally digestible. However, large pieces should not be swallowed — remove and discard the chew when it gets small enough to swallow whole.

What should I do if my dog swallows a large piece?

If your dog swallows a large piece, monitor them closely for signs of distress, choking, or digestive upset. If you notice any unusual symptoms, contact your vet immediately. This is why we always recommend supervising chew sessions.

Can I give PureGnaw chews to multiple dogs at once?

We recommend giving each dog their own chew in separate areas. Resource-guarding is common with high-value chews and can lead to conflict between dogs, even ones that normally get along.

My dog has sensitive digestion. Are these chews okay?

PureGnaw chews are naturally low in lactose due to the fermentation process used to make them. Many dogs with dairy sensitivity do fine with yak chews. That said, every dog is different — introduce gradually and consult your vet if you have concerns.
