What Size Yak Chew Does My Dog Need? Sizing by Weight

Weigh your dog, then pick one of three sizes. Up to 25 lbs is a Small. 25 to 55 lbs is a Medium. 55 lbs and up is a Large. If your dog lands between two bands, or chews harder than the scale suggests, go up a size.

That is the answer. The rest is the detail behind it, including the two cases the chart alone doesn't settle.

The short answer: go by your dog's weight

Not breed. Not enthusiasm. Weight is what matters, because what you are avoiding is a chew small enough for your dog to swallow whole.

Small: dogs up to 25 lbs

Roughly 3.5 inches long, 3.5 oz (100 g). Estimated duration 2 to 6 hours. Our Size Guide gives Chihuahuas, Yorkies, and Dachshunds as examples.

Medium: dogs 25 to 55 lbs

Roughly 5 inches long, 5.5 oz (155 g). Estimated duration 4 to 10 hours. Examples include Beagles, Corgis, and Basset Hounds.

Large: dogs 55 lbs and up

Roughly 7 inches long, 8 oz (225 g). Estimated duration 8 to 20 hours. Examples include Labs, German Shepherds, and Huskies. Large is our biggest size, and it covers 55 lbs and up.

Once you know your size, Original is the straightforward place to start.
